Rubber Moulded Instrument Covers
Rubbertech have been manufacturing protective Rubber Moulded Instrument Covers for many years and supply into the electronics, marine and medical industries.
Many instruments are used in either harsh environments and need additional protection from damage. A solution to this problem is to design a protective rubber moulded cover that can be fitted either as standard or as an optional extra to the product. As well as practical advantages that these mouldings offer they can also be designed to add value and improve the appearance of the end product.
It is important to choose the correct material when designing and manufacturing rubber moulded instrument covers. If the environments that the product is used in are harsh or the product is subjected to rough usage then a rubber with good tear strength and possible oil / chemical resistance should be considered.
If the rubber moulded instrument cover is to protect but also enhance the look of the product then a material such as silicone should be considered as this can be colour matched easily, printed, coated with a metallic spray colour, coated with a protective spray to reduce the build up of dirt and dust on the cover and also can have an anti-microbial spray coating applied to prevent bacterial bug growth.
The method of manufacture for rubber moulded instrument covers depends on the material used, we can injection mould covers in TPE materials if the design and quantities allow. However more often we use compression moulding as the tools are more cost effective and if the required quantity is hundreds or low thousands. This method would use silicone rubber, EPDM, Nitrile or Neoprene.
